Coyote Creek NJB Information
National Junior Basketball is a nationwide group of youth basketball leagues. The Coyote Creek Chapter services the greater South San Jose area in and around Blossom Valley, and consists of players from 3rd grade to 8th grade. We field separate teams for girls and boys in addition to our All Net competitive teams of 5th-8th grade boys, one grade per team, and 5th-8th grade girls, one grade per team. Home games are played at Oak Grove High School, 285 Blossom Hill Rd. and are held on Sundays between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Away games are played within San Jose, or adjacent communities, and are held on Sundays between 9am and 6pm. Registration usually begins in August/September with games beginning in early December.
Our goal is to create an environment in which every player can develop their full potential as an athlete and an individual. Through NJB, special rules for each age division have been established to help achieve a balance of individual accomplishment and team competition on the court. The following is a brief outline of these rules .
NJB Rule Summary

All Divisional NJB games will consist of five (5) eight minute periods with a running clock. |

Every player is required to play two full quarters. |
| |
No substitutions are allowed, other than for injury, during the first four quarters. |

The 3 point line is utilized in all divisions. |

Lane violations are enforced in all divisions |

Scoreclock and certified referees are utilized at all games. |
- Additional rules apply to particular grade divisions as follows:
DIVISION 1 (7th & 8th grade)

No zone defense is allowed in first half of game. All High School rules apply. |
DIVISION 2 (5th & 6th grade)
 |
Full court defense allowed during 5th quarter only. |

12 ft free throw line is utilized. |
DIVISION 3 (3rd & 4th grade)
 |
No full court defense until last two minutes of 5th quarter. |
 |
Defense must stay below the three point line until the ball crosses the attack line. |

Players must make one pass in the back court after a rebound. |
 |
5 second lane violations are enforced. |
 |
10 ft free throw line is utilized. |

Prior to the start of each game, all players attempt a free throw. A point is awarded for each successful attempt. |
POST SEASON
- All teams play in the Championship Series Tournament at the end of the season. Games will be played against teams from other local NJB leagues. Following this tournament, an All-Star team for each division is selected to compete in the national tournament which culminates in Southern California.
